Founder Katrine D'Errico, a certified dog trainer since 2013, brings her passion for positive reinforcement methods to every dog she meets. With a specialization in behavior modification and shelter dogs, Katrine's gentle approach creates lasting transformations. Cumulating over 10 years of experience and certified from l’École des intervenants canins du Québec, she has worked with organisations like the Montréal SPCA, the City of Montréal and the Mira Foundation. These experiences helped gather a great amount of knowledge concerning dogs & animals which help offer personalized and quality services to you and your family.

Reliable and Trustworthy

Dog training in Québec lacks regulations and it can be quite difficult to find a trustworthy dog trainer using ethical and reliable training. She is certified from l’École des intervenants canins du Québec as well as the IAABC as well as being referred by the Montreal SPCA.

Science-based methods

At Alka K9, our dog training methods are solely based on positive reinforcement, science and respect. We do not use (or need!) aversive collars or techniques.

How many sessions are necessary?

Because every dog and family is different, an honest recommendation for the amount of sessions required can only be given after an initial consultation, virtual or in person!

What training methods do you use?

My training methods are based on positive reinforcement, counter-conditioning, response substitution and desensitization, while respecting the dog’s communication and thresholds.

I do not use aversive collars or techniques.

What is the difference between virtual and in-person consultations?

All depending on your budget and location Alka K9 offers 3 different types of consultations for your specific needs.

At-home consultations are 90 minutes and are offered for Montréal and surrounding areas. This is a great tool for behavioral issues at home or in specific locations (Park, pet store, on walks, etc). Following an at-home consultation, you will receive personalized documents & links as well as a follow-up phone call of 30 minutes.

Private courses of 90 minutes are offered at Ranch équestre Karina Carola (Mascouche). Following a private consultation, you will receive personalized documents & links as well as a follow-up phone call of 30 minutes.

Virtual consultations are offered all around the world, no matter the weather. After each consultation you will receive useful links and documents to remember tools and exercises.
